- The "heart-pen"
communicates with the PC via it's own built-in IrDA port via
an ACTiSYS external IrDA adapter, the ACT-IR220L+, which is attached
to the serial port of the PC.
It is anticipated a person with a history of heart disease will
now have the ability to consult quickly and effectively with his
or her physician. The technology is now at hand to record your
own heart readings at home, beam the results via IrDA, using the
ACT-IR220L+, to a PC, completing the health-cycle by emailing
the results to a doctor for clear analysis.
The manufacturers of the "heart-pen" are receiving a great deal
of interest from insurance agencies around the world. The expense
of a hospital visit is reduced, possibly even removed; the psychological
effects of having oneself connected electronically to an imposing
piece of medical machinery are removed. The benefits this new
unit can provide are heart warming.
The "heart-pen" with its integral use of IrDA innovations is truly
breaking frontiers within medicine.
